Chapter 7: The Tourmaline Winglet

“We have to be careful,” the SkyWing was saying. “Remember, we’re just spying, not setting anything off.”

“Yes, yes, we know.” Starshine rolled her eyes. “You’ve told us this far too many times. You can stop now, Firestorm.”

Chapter 5: A Trip to the Library

“Um, excuse me? Traitor!” Starshine complained, bustling back with a book cradled in her arms. “I left to get you a book, Butterfly. Here,” she handed it to her, and she read the cover. Wings of Fire, Book One, The Dragonets of Destiny.

It was a history book. “Oh, uh, thanks.”

“It’s a series. A really good series. I know what you’re thinking, yes, because I read your mind. ‘History? Ew, I only like fiction.’”

Butterfly frowned at her. “Isn’t it considered rude to fish through someone’s thoughts?”

“Butterfly—you fling your thoughts around like there’s no tomorrow. I couldn’t help but overhear some things.” She grinned smugly. “Anyway, bye. See you later!” The NightWing scurried away and launched out an open window.

Butterfly rubbed her head. Fling her thoughts? Did she really?

Chapter 4: Lesson Learned

“Wow, and where did the inspiration for this come from?” Kinkajou stood before their painting, mentally turning it with her talons.

“A dream,” Bumblebee said proudly.

“I love your macaw,” Kinkajou said brightly. “You used all the right shades of a native—”

“Oh, the red is blood.”

Chapter 3: Awesome Rivals

“Peacemaker,” Tsunami began, “please stop making enemies.”

“I have literally no idea what you’re talking about.” He said innocently. “I’m a perfect angel. And anyway, we’re already enemies. This isn’t my first time in the rodeo, you know!”

Chapter 2: Meeting the Quartz Winglet

“Hey Peace!” A ruby red SkyWing covered in gold and copper jewelry waved his wings at the NightWing as he and a crush of dragonets swarmed through the archway leading to the open ledge. He paused by a spread of fruit and filled a banana leaf with various kinds of fruits. “Oh, great—you saved our spot.” He poured the contents of his banana leaf on the table and sorted through them. “I brought you strawberries—since they’re your favorite, mangos because they were ripe—I think… kiwis because they were soft and I’d already touched them, and these red furry ones just looked peculiar and they reminded me of you. And then there was this new gray fruit that I’ve never seen before… wait, that might just be a rock,” he tapped it with his talon and then threw it over his shoulder. “Yep—just a rock.”

Moonlark Madness: Foxfire

“Luna?” Elidi’s face appeared in front of her. “Hey, I thought it was you!” It took her a moment to remember that she’d met Elidi in Atlantis the day before, played a cool Telekinesis game with her, and promised to meet up with her during lunch. Funny how everything had worked out.

“Oh, uh, Elidi! Hi.”

“What’s up?” she asked, falling into step beside Luna.

“Uh… nothing much,” she shrugged, “other than the fact that I moved in with Grady and Edaline.”

Elidi’s eyes widened. “Grady and Edaline Ruewen? Are you like, their family?”

“Well… you could say that.”

“That’s crazy! So you know Sophie Foster?”

“Unfortunately.”

Moonlark Madness: We Meet Again

“Well, kiddo,” Grady squeezed Luna’s shoulder and tousled her hair, “if you need anything, we’re just downstairs. Sophie should be home soon, so you two can meet each other.” He smiled at her, and Edaline kissed her forehead. Whoa. Whoa, whoa, whoa. So much… affection. What was this? Luna felt a slight shudder at the word family. Welp. This was why it was a trial period.

“Mm,” she watched them leave the room and then locked eyes with Tam. “You knew, didn’t you? You knew these were Sophie’s parents?”

He gave her a weak smile. “Well—yeah…”

Moonlark Madness: Atlantis

“Hey, Bangs Boy!” A voice and face that were familiar but not familiar enough came onto the tiny screen. “Whatcha doing?”

Tam only glared.

“Right. Not too talkative, are we, Shady Mc Shade?” Luna saw the blond-haired boy she’d called Gremlin nod. “Well. What’s an astronaut’s favorite part of the keyboard?”

“I wasn’t aware astronauts had a—”

“The SPACE bar!” Gremlin exclaimed.

“Don’t ever hail me again.”

“I love ya too, Tammy Boy.”
