Summer Writing Competition

*Please listen to the video whilst reading this post*

Welcome to the stage, one and all! Due to popular demand, I have conducted a new competition for this fine summer season of 2024. I’ve decided to broaden my horizons as of late, and so this competition is open to all genres! Sci-fi, fantasy, adventure, mystery, fiction… and most etceteras. 😉 I’ll be providing five different writing prompts that are completely at your disposal, should you choose to use them, and you are absolutely free to come up with something on your own!

The rules to my game are simple:

  • Pick a genre and writing prompt from below, or journey throughout the web to find your own

  • Write an extraordinary narrative of up to three thousand words, and no less than seven fifty

  • Enter using the form below before the clock strikes midnight on August twentieth, as the winner will be announced on the twenty-seventh

  • Have fun! Whether you win or not, you wrote a spectacular story and put yourself out there, and that’s what matters

Prompts

Fantasy

“I’ve always wanted a pet.”

“You realize you can’t keep this thing, right?”

“Why not? It’s cute.”

It’s a dragon.”

Paranormal

“You know, no one bothered me this much when I was dead.”

Sci-Fi

“I’m telling you, humans are real!” she argued furiously.

Her sister sighed. “Everyone else stopped believing in humans when they were little. You should stop, too. It’s unhealthy.”

“But I saw one, I swear!” she exclaimed, frustrated that no one believed her.

“Of course you did.” Her sister shook her head and went back to reading.

Mystery/Comedy

A murder in which all suspects think themselves guilty, only for the victim’s death to be pinned on natural causes.

Now I’m aware that I haven’t provided a prompt for every genre, but these are all I found which I liked.

The winner’s story will be showcased on my blog on August 27th, and, if they are a member on my forum, they will receive a first-place winner badge! (As well as a lifetime’s worth of bragging rights!)

That’ll be all, my friends!

Ready, set, write!
