Rebooting & Writing Activities
It has been a while since I last posted anything, and can I just say—first of all—hi. *blink blink* How you doing?
So, one thing I did not take into account was the fact that, with attending a public school and all, I have a lot less free time on my hands than I used to. Which is fine I’m fine. But posting on Tuesdays specifically is going to be virtually impossible. “Oh, no! You’re not ending your blog, are you?? Wahhhh—” No, creepy example. I’m not. I’m simply moving my posting days to Saturdays! It’ll be a nice change of pace, especially since my blog’s one year anniversary is coming up on November 7th, which is actually not a Saturday. :( I made a mistake. D:
So now on to the actual post, which is as following:
Writing activities!
Hello again, everyone! Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about—wait for it—writing. I know, I know. I’m so predictable. But I have, though, and I started thinking, “Aside from actually writing, what other games or activities can I do with my characters?” And there are actually quite a few!
Number 1: Write letters between two of your characters. Doesn’t that sound cool?? Not only would you be developing their character, you also get to think about what their handwriting looks like and mimic it, think about their home address, and the relationship between the two OC’s. I have not done this yet, to be clear, but when I do I’ll share it with you guys.
Number 2: Write a scene between two polar opposite characters. This is where all the best romance/friendship tropes stem from. Grumpy/Sunshine. (Um… there’s more…) Carefree/Anxious. Sarcastic/Earnest. Hyper/Exasperated—you get the idea. (Also I’m just sort of making these up at this point.) But this could be fun to try out, though.
Number 3: Embody your favorite OC and plan their next birthday celebration. This one is actually one I’ve put a lot of thought into. For example, as soon as you read this prompt, you thought of your favorite OC, right? Then your mind went one of two places: “Oh, that would be fun!” or “Aw, shucks. So-and-So doesn’t celebrate their birthday.” Well, if your OC doesn’t celebrate their birthday, write down why. And the rest of you, enjoy the prompt. First, figure out when their birthday is—spring, summer, fall, winter—and plan accordingly. (Whoa. You guys I just got an awesome idea. What if I celebrated my main characters’ birthdays??? And threw them parties and everything…)
I’m getting sidetracked.
After you know when their birthday is, you can create the guest list, plan out and/or draw the cake, and get into the nitty gritty of the planning. I.e. theme, decor, activities, etcetera.
That will be all for now, and I’ll talk to you guys again next Saturday! (Cross our fingers.) And before you go, check out my new bio below. :p
