POV: You Realize You’re an Introvert, Not an Extrovert

October 9th, 2023

What.

The.

Heck.

I always thought I was an extrovert because I like talking and hanging out with friends and certain family members. But no. I’m an introvert, and here’s proof:

  • Restaurants make me anxious when there’s crowds or loud music

  • I go through great lengths to avoid bumping into people when walking Blue

  • Believe it or not, I’m pretty sure I’m socially awkward?!? {Wow. Really? And it took me so long.}

  • I hate large parties/events when I don’t know anybody there

  • I’m a writer

Ha! That last one isn’t proof, but whatever. I’ve always read things like ‘How to be a better writer’ blah blah blah, and read comments such as “…writer’s are shy/introverted/not talkative”, and been like “Ha! Well I write, and I’m not shy, or introverted, so there.”

But…

Introverts have sides to them. Talkative with close friends and family, but otherwise…

Um. Hey. I’m leaving now.

Love,

😶

Welp, if anyone’s read Citrine’s character sketch, this is a diary entry written by the young, odd sapling I used to be. (Who Citrine pre-character-arc is based off of… 🫣) This was just a few days after my thirteenth birthday and I was going through an identity crisis. (Nothing serious—it’s laughable now, actually.)

I definitely don’t agree with this entry anymore, seeing as I’ve made multiple new friends in these past few weeks.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I’ve evolved, you see.

(It’s still pretty funny, though. And to be fair, loud background noise does occasionally make me jittery.)
