Life Update: Stuck in a Rut

Hey everyone! Have you ever sat down to write or do anything that requires some sort of legitimate thought process and creativity, and just had absolutely no clue what to do?

Yeah. Me too. I’ve been having a lot of trouble with my novel, The Secret of Moonflower Valley, and it just feels like I’ll never finish it! I found some technical errors in the plot that really got me stumped as for what comes next. Do I go back and try to fix it? Yes? No? Do I just finish the draft I’m working on right now, even though it feels sort of… weird? Lots and lots of questions, as you can see. And, to make matters worse, I have a life?! This little responsibility called school… heh heh… yeah. And my family and I are in the middle of decluttering our house, making space for the future, and all that good stuff.

So basically, writing is starting to feel like pulling teeth. Painful. And upsetting, too. My characters have decided to stop talking to me, so that’s been difficult. (I’m referring to Writers’ Block, just so you know.) So, I’ve decided not to force myself to work on SMV, but I am actively trying to re-work the plot. Until the plot is fixed, I won’t be able to accept this draft, so. That should be fun. :/

However: I’ve been reading more than usual, which is to say… I’ve been reading. This may shock you, but I write way more than I actually read, unless I get into a series. (Such as Wings of Fire and Keeper of the Lost Cities! I’ve read every single book!) And Maya and best friend have been trying to get me to read Percy Jackson, so I guess I’ll cave in and maybe I’ll whip up a review one day!

What about you guys? Is anybody else experiencing setbacks such as Writers’ Block?
